smash your cobra? you are NOT down
so this guy in a suuuuuper clean cobra kit car leaves the csi las vegas set we're all on, followed by a BRAND fucking new gt3 rs porsche, they pull out onto the street next to the set and both gun it and a half second later, screech crunch BANG then something goes flying (later determined to be the streetlight and the cobras hood). left turn + cold tires + mash throttle = snap oversteer, then lift off throttle = grip and shoot you onto the curb and into a phone pole. MASSIVE FAIL!
all the extras ran over, the driver was out of the car panicking because his wife or mother who is sitting shotgun has smashed her head into the dash and is bleeding all over.
cops come, car is towed, we resume filming.
sorry for the crap photo, iphone camera is fail.
the phone pole used to be straight up and down.

dammitanyways
after being in the northeast for almost 5 weeks and only seeing 3 modified cars (one is a dodge cirrus, one is a focus 2dr, and finally tonight, in boston, i saw a decent z33) i really regret leaving my modified car at home. i was paranoid about having to deal with snow, but clearly that hasn't been an issue.....
where do i know you from?
vienna.
of course....
at this point i can't update this ish, so i'm just gonna bite shit from matej's and risky and bh and whatever else i find amusing and car life or whatever....

failorida strikes again!!!
just got my new license plate in the mail yesterday and lo and behold, its fucking spelled wrong. they put a "5" instead of an "s".
took me a half hour to get the tax collectors office on the phone and another half hour to explain to them wtf i was talking about.
they're sending me a corrected one, but it'll take 6-8 weeks.

teaser
so my blog is way way out of date and i still haven't even posted all of the pix from my FIRST cross country drive in june, but somehow i managed to post ones from the second.
o well. moving day is tomorrow, but somehow i'm committed to get my car back together by tuesday night so i can roll out to pipeline.
i've always contended that rear overfenders are overkill on s-chassis, and i'll be for sure making a hypocrite of myself when i finally throw my tatakidashi fenders on.
here is proof. 18x10.5 +30 in the rear with only rolled lip and a VERY VERY minor pull.

amazing creation
pix from across the country
so i had to fly back to florida and pick up my other car on monday of this week.
always a good excuse to hang out with ashly and go to koume sushi!
both of which are always fantastic!
this is a tempura apple. freaking unreal. comes with green tea ice cream, fresh grapes and a strawberry, all sprinkled with powdered sugar.
while driving across louisiana i came up behind this truck, loaded down with win!
in texas my odometer rolled over all ones
then in west texas i saw this coming up behind me!!!
its a freakin nissan xtrail. like a smaller xterra, iirc they come with an sr20ve.
this one had mexican plates and the dudes in it looked way freaked out that i was taking pix of them.

travel time- day 1
Yesterday was a mess. I ran around all morning trying to get all of my errands done before leaving town. Coming back from the dmv this guy pulled up next to me. Its the 5th r35 i've seen in florida, 3 of which were in port st lucie. seems like a really wierd place to find such a rare supercar.
Drove 8 million miles, got way sunburned on my left side, then stopped in Valdosta, Ga for lunch. I've always wanted to go there, but never knew why. Cool looking downtown area, even though it seems like everything shuts down at 5pm. had the best chicken salad sandwich tho.
made it to a hotel in woodstock, ga for the night. Man it felt good to take a shower.
leaving in a few minutes for deals gap and the tail of the dragon! many many pix of that will be up after i get done there.

d1 miami
so i went down to hallandale yesterday for d1 miami without high expectations or hopes. boy were my low expectations filled. this event isn't even a shadow of its former self.
lets talk about the venue first.
Gulfstream Park is a horse racing track.
they have massive parking lots.
but for some reason, they had a police car at the entrance to the lot closest to the actual event, telling everyone they had to park on the other side of the venue, almost 1/3 mile away! but then you could walk thru and that lot was less than 1/4 full. gay.
the cop eventually left (must've been time for a bacon break) and we parked much closer after lunch.
the "car show" and vendors were a joke. there were maybe 4-5 vendor booths, and one of them was for a mobile/cell phone company. spec clutch was the only brand i recognized, and the "stunt" bike guys had their own booth. there were about 15-20 show cars on display, with a mix of honda, nissan, mbz, mitsu and scion. the nsx with a do-luck kit (i think?) and forced induction was wicked. the s14/porsche cup car with a 2jz was poorly conceived at best.
alex (roidmonkey) had his car there, and it looks even more amazing now with the new wheels, but since it deserves its own section, i'll leave that for later.
rain is lame. 60% chance of showers was the forecast for the day, and they were right.
it poured on us for a bit, but in typical florida fashion, 10 minutes later it was sticky and humid again.
i won't go into details about who beat who in what round, i actually had to leave during top 8 to go to work, but i will say that the finnish drivers were impressive, and that i was bummed forrest wang broke an axle. i was looking forward to watching him more than any of the other cars.
there were some wimmins there. miami heat girls came out, and are clearly hired for their looks, not their dancing abilities. bikini contest was weak as shit. the only redeeming parts were the chick in the green, who had some top notch bolt ons, and the other chick in the leopard print.
by far the best part of the day was getting to hang out with the guys from orlando. top notch heckling and a good time was had by all. the announcer is still a massive tool. no knowledge of drifting, and still doesn't know what the difference between a soarer and a "sawyer" is. he loves talking about how good one guy is "sucking up on" another tho.
there were a few cool cars in the lots, like an r35, new genesis coupe, and a vip q45, but mostly alot of poor fitment and halfassed cars.
some pixors.

i love ups
ups brings me goodies.
at home, the ups man is on a first name basis with my brother cuz all i do when i'm on the road for work is order crap.
today they brought me: 350z track rotors from (slotted and 12.75") and oem nissan window visors courtesy of travis @ 88 rotors and eddie @ performance nissan, respectively. so i threw the new rotors on with punk adapter brackets, and then i got lazy and tomorrow i'll put the window visors on.

bought more crap
ran down to hallendale yesterday to pick up some origin 50mm rear overfenders and a supermade spoiler from Alex (roidmonkey on zilvia). super cool guy, and incredible car.
the pix he has on zilvia of his car don't near do it justice.
its easily top 10 best looking s13s i've ever seen or seen pix of.
these are the fenders and spoiler (on his car still)
and some pix of his car from either yesterday or zilvia

d1 anahiem superfail?
In response to the overwhelming amount of negative feelings about the poor organization and extreme lack of consideration for the attendees at the anahiem "D1" event, I've suggested that everyone who went send at least one email to the organizers to let them know exactly what was wrong, and what we would like to see done differently in the future.
From hour long lines, to $5 12oz cans of soda (no joke), to Gumball cars and "stunt" bikes, the event was rife with problems that not only disappointed alot of fans, but discouraged alot of people from ever considering attending another D1 event.
"Dub1", as many people are calling it, was clearly just HIN paying D1 to let them use the name for their event. Horrible idea. Holding a dub car show, with "stunt" bikes, and a Gumball parade would be like going to an NFL football game and them having the local high school chess club getting a parade at halftime. Clearly, the people who went to this event went there to SEE DRIFTING!!!!! Not donks, or dub cars, or stunt bikes, or go-karts, or anything else.
So please, email both the D1 organization, and HIN and let them know how lame this event was, and what you expect from them in return for your hard earned money.

ken and mary skyline sighting in costa mesa
This is actually about 1.5 years old, but I always thought it was funny.
I met Lorenz and his beautiful 1974 skyline on Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa.
At Foster's Freeze/El Pollo Loco.
I was driving north and he was heading south when we passed. I saw him turn right in my rearview so I flipped a bitch and headed back and found him sitting in the drive thru, leaning hard over to reach the window and get his food! (Rhd cars + u.s. drive thru = no good).
He was super cool and let me snap some photos. We chatted for a bit and then went our separate ways. I've run into him a few times since.
GTR sighting!
Gweed's Gangsters Classic Car Show
So I stumbled upon this meet entirely by accident. I went to a movie at the Treasure Coast Mall, and for some reason when I was leaving, decided to go around the back of the mall. Thats when I struck paydirt!
Held every tuesday for the past 12 years, Gweed's Gangsters Classic Car Meet is pure gold.
Just a parking lot, folding chairs, and gear heads.
Cars varied from 60's-70's muscle, to 30's-40's and even a '72 vw bug!
They looked at me funny when i rolled up in an s13.4 on 17x10's but quickly understood that I shared their passion for grease and gears and burning rubber.
I was kinda bummed out, however, cuz it was only 5pm and ppl said "most ppl don't show up till about 7-8", and I work 7pm-5am.
I may hafta ditch work next week.
The standout of the evening was a socal-speed built '31 Ford.
Excellent styling imo, and the owner (Mike iirc) said it was an all steel body! No fiberglass kit car here!
I'm sure I'll be back again next week and I'll for sure stay later too!!!
